Amazing New Discovery! Name: The Fuzzball Plant Environment: The fuzzball was found on a remote beach near salt water. Adaptations: The fuzzball look strange but this incredible plant has found ingenious ways to survive in its environment! Its fluffy exterior helps the plant filter the salt from the ocean water around it. All the salt gets caught on the fluff and only pure water is absorbed by the plant. It also is small and ball-shaped to withstand the fierce pressure of the waves and wind. It is also poisonous to most birds, so most animals in the area avoid the fuzzball when looking for a meal. Only the tiny seashore beetle, which is native to the fuzzball's beach, can withstand the poison of the plant. The seashore beetle lays its eggs inside the fuzzball. The fuzzball provides protection for the insect's eggs. In return, the beetle cleans the salt off the fuzzball's hairs and helps it maintain its glossy, green appearance.
