H/W for Thursday

Read everything !
Learn your words or poems for Thursdays lesson!

1)     Bezkrovna Darya

The boy who sits behind me
Is really, really mean.
He tells me I have cooties(вши) and
I smell like a sardine.

He cheats(списывает) on every spelling test
And blames it all on me.
He always pulls my ponytail.
I wish he'd let me be.

He talks too loud, his laugh is weird.
I wish that he
was mute.(немой)
But the worstest thing about him is…
I think he's kinda cute.

2)      Cherepynskyy Ilya

Forget that two times four is eight.
Forget the name of every state.
Forget the answers on the test.
Forget which way is east or west.
Forget the myths of ancient Rome.
Forget to bring your books from home.
Forget the words you learned to spell.
Forget to hear the recess bell.
Forget the distance to the moon.
Forget how many days in June.
Forget the capital of France.
But don't forget to wear your pants!

3)      Fomin Oleksandr

Love is like vanilla ice cream
With chocolate sauce on top
Love is like a spending spree
In my favourite shop

Love is like a big balloon
Floating in the air
Love is like a birthday cake
That all my friends can share

Love is like a fairground
With lots to see and do
Love is what I feel
Every time I think of you!

4)      Finogenov Nikita

Homework, I love you. I think that you’re great.
It’s wonderful fun when you keep me up late.
I think you’re the best when I’m totally stressed,
preparing and cramming(зубрить) all night for a test.

Homework, I love you. What more can I say?
I love to do hundreds of problems each day.
You boggle(пугаешь) my mind and you make me go blind(слепой),
but still I’m ecstatic(восторженный) that you were assigned.

Homework, I love you. I tell you, it’s true.
There’s nothing more fun or exciting to do.
You’re never a chore, for it’s you I adore.
I wish that our teacher would hand you out more.

5)      Zlatkin Maxym

Valentine’s Day for Kids in the US
In the US, kids celebrate Valentine’s Day in grade school.  They give Valentines to each other.  These are little cards, often flat.  Often they will attach a little piece of candy to each Valentine to give to their classmates. Nowadays, children are asked to give a Valentine to all the other kids in their class so that it’s not just the popular kids getting a lot of Valentines.

6)      Melnykova Mariya

I have a half a million friends.
I'm popular. It's true!
I like them, each and every one,
and they all like me too.

I have more friends than anybody
else you've ever known.
It's nice to have so many friends.
I never feel alone.

They come from countries near and far,
from countries large and little.
Afghanistan and Zambia
and places in the middle.

I hope someday I'll meet my friends.
You see, we've never met.
The only way I know them all
is on the Internet

7)      Kyrychenko Danylo
 I just called to say I love you;
I just called to say how much I care;
I just called to say I love you,
And I mean it from the bottom of my heart.
No April rain, no flowers' bloom,
No wedding Saturday within the month of June.
But what it is is something true
Made up of these three words that I must say to you.

8)      Novikova Tayisiya

It is the traditional day for lovers to express their love to each other. They do this by sending Valentine’s cards with romantic messages. It is common to leave the card unsigned. Other traditions on this day are buying chocolates and giving red roses. Valentine’s Day used to be an American and European thing, but now it has gone all over the world.! In Japan, only women give Valentine’s gifts – to all the men they know.

9)      Biryukov Danila
Decorations for Valentine's Day are generally in red and pink colors and include hearts, Cupid with his arrow, and red roses. Cupid is a popular symbol of the holiday because in mythology his arrow strikes the heart of people and causes them to fall in love.

In the United States children often exchange Valentine's Day cards with their classmates. These are usually just fun, silly cards or about friendship rather than romantic love. They often attach a piece of candy to the cards.

10)  Zadniprovskyi Fedir

Mary     kissed me! Yuck, it's true!
My face took on a greenish hue.
(позеленело)
My knees, like jelly(желе), started shaking.
Then my stomach started quaking(дрожать)
.
Slobber(слюна) slithered down my cheek.
My consciousness(сознание) was growing weak.
My ears were ringing, head was spinning.
But all the while Kate was grinning.(усмехаться)

My heart was pounding through my shirt.
My tongue felt like I just ate dirt.
Though you may think I've lost my brain,
I wish she'd kiss me once again!

11)  Volik Iegor

Homework, I love you. I think that you’re great.
It’s wonderful fun when you keep me up late.
I think you’re the best when I’m totally stressed,
preparing and cramming(зубрить) all night for a test.

Homework, I love you. What more can I say?
I love to do hundreds of problems each day.
You boggle(пугаешь) my mind and you make me go blind(слепой),
but still I’m ecstatic(восторженный) that you were assigned.

12)  Topolyanska Vladyslava

I bought a box of chocolates
for my mother's valentine;
a giant, heart-shaped package
with a flowery design.

They had them at the market
and got the biggest one.
I nearly couldn't pick it up.
It must have weighed a ton.

I didn't buy the biggest one
to show how much I care.
I bought it just to guarantee
my mom would have to share.

13)  Bezmenova Svitlana
My teacher calls me sweetie cakes.
My classmates think it's funny
to hear her call me angel face
or pookie bear or honey.

She calls me precious baby doll.
She calls me pumpkin pie
or doodle bug or honey bunch
or darling butterfly.

My class is so embarassing
I need to find another;
just any class at all
in which the teacher's not my mother.

14)  Yukht Dariya

The custom of exchanging romantic messages seems to have started in 19th-century England. In 1847, an American woman, Esther Howland, started producing and selling Valentine cards. Today, over one billion are sent worldwide, with women sending 85 per cent of them.

15)  Istomin Mykyta
  I didn’t do my homework.
My teacher asked me, “Why?”
I answered him, “It’s much too hard.”
He said, “You didn’t try.”
I told him, “My dog ate it.”
He said, “You have no dog.”
I said, “I went out running.”
He said, “You never jog.”
I told him, “I had chores to do.”
He said, “You watched TV.”
I said, “I saw the doctor.”
He said, “You were with me.”
My teacher sees right through my fibs,
which makes me very sad.
It’s hard to fool the teacher
when the teacher is your dad.

16)  Guryev Eskander

I told my mom I'd go to work
if she would go to school.
She thought that trading places once
just might be kind of cool.

So she agreed; I packed her lunch
and made her wash her face.
Then Mother said, "I wonder why
you want to take my place?"

"I wonder what you do at work.
I'd like to meet your boss.
Now hurry up and brush your teeth
and don't forget to floss.

"There's just one other thing, Mom,
that I forgot to mention:
I'll pick you up at four o'clock-
today you have detention."

17)  Khnykina Alyona

It’s here again, the day when boys and girls, sweethearts and lovers, husbands and wives, friends and neighbors, and even the office staff will exchange greetings of affection, undying love or satirical comment.

18)  Zielikova Alisa

The first Valentine of all was a bishop, a Christian martyr, who, before he was put to death by the Romans, sent a note of friend-ship to his jailer’s blind daughter.

More then 17 centuries  people who love, celebrate this holiday.

19)Samoylova Kristina
You tie my shoes, you pack my lunch,
you give me snacks that I can munch.

You always see I've combed my hair,
when I need you, you're always there.

You even forgave me for spilling glue,
Happy Valentine's Day, Mommy, I love you!
20)Khloponin Ivan
I have a secret just for you.
Don’t worry, you will not "Boo hoo."

On Valentine's I give you my heart,
even though it's just a very small part.

It means I love you, oh, so much
(I hope you feel that you've been touched).

I know we'll be friends 'til the end,
to you this Valentine's Wish I send.
21)Shaposhnikov Lev

I’d like to tell you a legend about this holiday.
When the Roman Emperor Claudius II needed soldiers, he made a low against marriage. Claudius believed that single young men made better soldiers and marriage would make man want to stay at home.

A kind priest, Valentine , saw the love of young couples, so he married them secretly against the law.
22) Onisko Dima

My sister's always on the phone.
I never see her study.
She doesn't do her homework,
which is why her grades are cruddy.
My sister's always on the phone,
but I don't think that's cool.
My sister is so popular
she's flunking out of school.

25) Reyev Sasha
 Paper, scissors, glitter, glue
this heart of red I made for you.

You're my best friend in the school,
you always mind the Golden Rule.

Games and sports with you are fun
no matter who is "Number One."

Friends like you are hard to find ...
so will you be my Valentine?
26) Grinenko Valera

Valentine's Day Festival is celebrated with joy and enthusiasm in France. People take opportunity of the occasion and express love to people close through them. Just as in several other countries people in France exchange Valentine's Day greetings through cards, fresh flowers and gifts of love.
27)Frendiy Vlad
Don't bring camels in the classroom.
Don't bring scorpions to school.
Don't bring rhinos, rats, or reindeer.
Don't bring mice or moose or mule.

Please get rid of your gorilla.
Please kick out your kangaroo.
No, the teacher didn't mean it
when she called the class a "zoo."
28)Shapovalov Vlad

Today I managed something
that I’ve never done before:
I turned in this week’s spelling quiz
and got a perfect score.
Although my score was perfect,
it appears I’m not too bright.
I got a perfect zero—
not a single answer right.
29) Partola Kolya
 If I had a dollar
I know what I'd do;
I'd go to the mall
and I'd spend it on you.

I'd shop for a shoelace,
or maybe a sock,
or maybe a ribbon,
or maybe a rock.

I'd pick up a pencil,
I'd give you a stick.
I'd buy you a bit of
a board or a brick.

I like you, I do,
but I'm sorry to say
you can't get a lot
for a dollar today.
30)Solokha Dima
  Valentine's Day
If I could be the postman
For just one single time,
I'd choose to carry Valentines
So lovely and so fine.
I would not mind the heavy load,
Or mind my tired feet.
If I could scatter happiness
All up and down the street.
31 )Grechana Kristina
 Valentine's Day
If I could be the postman
For just one single time,
I'd choose to carry Valentines
So lovely and so fine.
I would not mind the heavy load,
Or mind my tired feet.
If I could scatter happiness
All up and down the street.

Marina Kovalenko
My elephant thinks I'm wonderful.
My elephant thinks I'm cool.
My elephant hangs around with me
and follows me into school.

My elephant likes the way I look.
He thinks that I'm fun and smart.
He thinks that I'm kind and generous
and have a terrific heart.

My elephant thinks I'm brave and bold.
He's proud of my strength and guts.
But mostly he likes the way I smell.
My elephant thinks I'm nuts.

Nastya Yanchenko
You tie my shoes, you pack my lunch,
you give me snacks that I can munch.

You always see I've combed my hair,
when I need you, you're always there.

You even forgave me for spilling glue,
Happy Valentine's Day, Mommy, I love you!
